The FAI5500 is Opticon's premire Bar code scanner for the Factory Automation industry.


How To


Restore Default Settings

There are two methods:

  1. Hold the MODE AND TRIGGER buttons down while you power up the scanner. Keep holding until you see all LEDS flashing, then release. The unit will continue for some time to reboot, but it will be set to the original factory defaults. Any past configurations that were saved in memory will still be there to recall.
  2. Open the CONSOLE web page. Click on the Options GEAR icon in the upper-right corner. Select "Restore Factory Defaults".
  • Restoring factory defaults will set the IP addresses/Ports back to:
Interface IP Address
ETHERNET: 192.168.2.220
USB-NET: 192.168.2.221
Services TCP Ports
Web Server [CONSOLE]: 8080
Telnet: 23

Configure the Scanner

The output of this barcode reader can be modified in several different manners. Using several different tools. The following tools are available for you to use in configuring your scanner. Please submit a ticket above for assistance from Opticon's Technical Support Team.

MFi Mobile Order form This form is a MS Word document for the iDevice developer who has obtained a "Bundle Seed ID" via the Apple provisioning portal. The developer must fill out this form and send back to Opticon support. Opticon will in turn add the information to the product plan and return a vendor "Product Plan ID" number. Software

Software Description Version Download
Appload Appload Is Opticon's multi-purpose firmware update utility. It is a Windows PC application that provides the capability to download firmware onto most Opticon products. It also contains a versatile terminal interface that allows serial communication to any serial port connected to the PC (be it RS232, USB-VCP or Bluetooth-SPP). Drivers

Driver Description Version Download
All-In-One PC Drivers USB-to-serial drivers installer package for 32 and 64-bit versions of Windows XP (32-bit only), Vista 7, 8, 8.1 and 10. This package contains four drivers. The first and fourth drivers are for the Opticon cradles. The second driver is for the OPN200x scanners along with many other Opticon products. The third driver is an ATEN driver for a popular RS232 <-> USB-VCP adapter.
