  ===PC===    ===PC=== 
- The PC Companion application is required in order to download barcode data from the OPN-2001. In order to get the OPN-2001 to communicate with the PC, we will also need to download and install the proper USB driver.   + Using the OPN-2001 with a PC will require the downloading and installation of two pieces of software. To get a Windows PC to recognize the OPN-2001, you will first need to download and install Opticon's PC USB Drivers Installer. To download barcode scans from the OPN-2001, you will also need to download and install the PC Companion Application.  
    + ====Initial Setup====  
    + You will only need to do this once per computer, so bear with us.  
       
- To get set up to download barcode data, follow the instructions below:   + #In the Downloads section of this page, you'll see the "PC USB Drivers Installer" Download and extract that file to a convenient location.  
- #Download the "OPN-2001 PC Companion Application" under software downloads and the "All In One Installer Package" under driver downloads.   + #Run the installer you extracted in step 1 by double-clicking on it. Follow the prompts on your screen until the installation is completed.  
- #Double click on the driver installer and follow the instructions.   + #When the installation is complete, try plugging the OPN-2001 into your computer. Windows will inform you that it has found new hardware, and that it is installing the drivers for that hardware.  
- #Extract the OPN2001 application files from the .zip file, and copy both items to a convenient location to launch the application from (no installation is required).   + #When you have completed installing the USB Drivers for the OPN-2001, then download and extract the OPN-2001 PC Companion Application. Make sure that both "OPN2001.exe" and "Csp2.dll" are kept in the same folder.  
- #Double click on OPN2001.exe to launch the application. You may create a shortcut to this program in any other location on this computer.   + #From the folder where you extracted the PC Companion Application, double click on "OPN2001.exe." The application window will appear. From here you can download barcodes, change settings, or view and set the date and time on the device.  
- #Scan barcodes, the connect the OPN2001 to the computer, and click "Get Barcodes"   + #To test that your device is connected properly and that everything is working, look for a green "dot" next to "Status" near the top of the screen. Alternatively, just click "Get time." If everything is working properly, you will get a dialogue with a date and time.  
- #Optionally contact Technical support for help with settings.      
    + ====Scan Barcodes====  
    + Scanning barcodes with the OPN-2001 is as simple as pointing and scanning. Scanning barcodes with the big button will store barcodes, while scanning with the small button will remove barcodes. Below are some tips about scanning and removing barcodes from the device.  
       
    + *When the OPN-2001 has a good scan, it will chime, the LED on the device will flash green, and the laser will turn off.  
    + *When the OPN-2001 deletes a barcode,it will give a different chime from above, and it will flash an Orange LED when it has a good scan.  
    + *Deleting the same barcode again when there are no more scans of it present will cause the OPN-2001 will chime for about a second, and the LED will flash red.  
       
    + ====Download From the OPN-2001====  
    + If you haven't done so yet, refer to the Initial Setup instructions above to get all the proper software installed and ready. This part of the guide assumes that you have already successfully setup your computer to communicate with the OPN-2001.  
    + #Plug the OPN-2001 into your computer.  
    + #Open the OPN-2001 PC Companion Application by navigating to and running "OPN2001.exe," as before.  
    + #Double-check that the "Status" light is green.  
    + #Check the box next to "Save to file" if you would like your barcodes to be saved to your computer each time you select "Get Barcodes."  
    + #By default, the barcodes will be stored in the Documents folder on your computer. To change this, click on the ellipsis(...) button and choose where you would like your barcodes saved.  
    + #Click "Get barcodes" to download the barcodes that you just scanned. Double-check that they got saved to your file before proceeding.  
    + #Click "Delete barcodes" to erase the barcodes stored on the OPN-2001.
