    + The OPN-2500 is a compact and versatile barcode scanner equipped with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connectivity, USB-C, extended battery life, mobile App support (OptiConnect) and a high-speed 1D laser scan engine.The OPN-2500 is the successor of the popular OPN-2001 and OPN-2006 in one product. It’s packed with the latest features and technology.

    + *Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Connectivity: The OPN-2500 features modern Bluetooth 5.4 compliance, supporting Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) with multiple services such as HID (Human Interface Device), DFU (Device firmware update), UART (Serial port emulation), and OptiConnect (Mobile application).  
    + *USB-C Connectivity: A wide range of USB modes are supported, being USB COM-port (USB-VCP, USB-CDC; OptiConnect, OPN Companion mode, Firmware updates), USB-HID (Keyboard) and USB-MSD (Mass Storage Device)

    + ==Firmware Loading==  
    + There are multiple components to the firmware on an OPN6000 (Bootloader, OS and Application), however the instructions to load them individually or all together are the same. In most cases, all you'll need to do is load the OS, and the proper Application file for your needs.  
       
    + Follow the directions below to load firmware on to the OPN6000.  
       
    + ===Preparation===  
    + # Download the, [[#Drivers|USB Drivers]], Firmware File, and Appload which is available in the [[#Software|Software Downloads]].  
    + # Extract the OPN-2500 Firmware, the Appload.zip file, and the USB Drivers Installer.zip file. The OPN-2500 Firmware file should be extracted into a convenient folder.  
    + # Install [[#Drivers|USB Drivers]] by double-clicking the 'USB Drivers Installer.exe'. When installing there will be 4 option, you only need the second box 'OPN/OPR/MDI/OPI/OPH/M5/M6 Drivers' checked.  
    + # Install [[Appload]] by double-clicking the 'Appload Setup.exe' file, which will start the install wizard. The defaults are fine in most cases, so keep clicking 'Next' until you are finished. Appload will launch at the end of the install process.  
    + # Connect the OPN-2500 to your PC  
       
    + ===Install the Firmware===  
    + # Launch Appload if it is not already running.  
    + # We first need to choose the correct COM port. From the main Appload window, select 'Settings' > 'Port', then choose the port that says 'Opticon USB Code Reader'.  
    + # Now we can start installing the firmware file. In Appload please choose 'File', then 'Download', then navigate to and select the firmware file. You should see a progress indicator and the words 'Initializing IRdA' if this is working.  
    + # When complete the OPN-2500 will emit a series of beeps and reboot. When the LED is steady RED (indicating charging) or GREEN (indicating fully charged) the process is complete and you may disconnect your OPN-2500 from the PC.  
    + #Your scanner is now ready for use. The User Manual in the Documents section goes over the various modes and how to best utilize them.

    + === Storage Application (MSD Mode) ===  
    + This mode makes the RS3000 act like a flash disk and stores the batched bar code into a file. When the RS3000 is connected to a USB cable and plugged into a computer, then a window will pop up asking if you want to browse the files stored. Any bar codes stored will show up in the SCANNED.TXT file. The Firmware: Mass Storage Device Application must be loaded on the RS3000 in order to enable this mode of operation. To install the Storage Application, follow these [[#Firmware_Loading|firmware loading]] instructions.     + The OPN2001 Simulation is a batch mode that uses the Companion Application to download the barcodes into a text or csv file. Our Companion Application OPN200x is available for free in the Downloads section below.
