This isn't a problem with small quantities of scans, but if you scan hundreds or thousands of barcodes a day, the Autocomplete database can become very large, which can cause Autocomplete lookups to take a very long time.

To disable Autocomplete, go to Start->Settings->Personal->Input, then select the "Word Completion" tab. Uncheck "Suggest words when entering text" and "Enable Auto Correct." This will eliminate the slowdown that comes from Autocomplete. You can also free up the space taken up by stored entires by pressing "Clear Stored Entries."
